ROSEMARY BEACH
MAIN STREET
e were fortunate to be involved in Rosemary Beach from its earliest years—working in the community long before relocating to Florida in 2005. In addition to designing more than 50 homes in the neighborhood, we also designed four consecutive buildings on what is now the vibrant Main Street.WThree were row house–style live-work buildings, with commercial spaces on the ground floor and residences or offices above. The largest, the Soleil Building—spanning three lots—anchors the row and remains a special project for us; we even keep the original white architectural model in our office.
Inspired by the New Orleans French Quarter, the buildings were designed as a cohesive collection with subtle variations—arched and square-topped windows, distinct balcony brackets, and uniquely detailed dormers. The Soleil Building expands on the theme with a street-facing courtyard, prominent front gable, layered wood balconies, and fourth-floor terraces with substantial cast stone railings. Over the past two decades, it has been rewarding to watch these buildings come to life as the heart of Main Street, now home to thriving shops, restaurants, and gathering spaces that contribute to the energy and character of the town.
Our connection to Rosemary Beach runs deep. My partner, Ron Domin, lived for years in a condominium above Cowgirl Kitchen, and for more than a decade our office occupied a second-floor space overlooking Main Street and the Gulf. Watching the town grow from those vantage points—and seeing these buildings remain active and full of life—has been one of the great privileges of our career.
